DexoPad Support

DexoPad combines an iOS app with a compact USB BLE HID dongle. Together, they let your iPhone act as a wireless keyboard, touchpad, mouse, and shortcut controller for Windows, macOS, Linux, and compatible computers—even before the operating system starts, where USB keyboard and mouse input is supported.

Getting Started

  1. Plug the DexoPad dongle into a powered USB port on the computer you want to control.
  2. Open DexoPad on your iPhone and allow Bluetooth access when prompted.
  3. In the app, open the device list and select your DexoPad dongle.
  4. Wait for the connection indicator to show that pairing is complete.
  5. Choose the OS mode that matches the connected computer, then use the keyboard or touchpad screen to test input.

Illustrated setup instructions and a walkthrough video are coming soon. These written steps cover the complete pairing flow in the meantime.

Features Guide

  • Text input: Type or paste text in DexoPad and send it to the connected computer. Select the correct OS mode first so special keys and shortcuts are mapped correctly.
  • Touchpad and mouse: Move the pointer, click, scroll, and use supported gestures from your phone.
  • Shortcuts and macros: Use shortcut controls for common actions and reusable key sequences.
  • Multi-device use: Move the dongle to another compatible computer, select the matching OS mode, and reconnect in the app.

Troubleshooting

The dongle does not appear in the BLE scan

  • Confirm that the dongle is fully inserted and the USB port supplies power.
  • Try another USB port and avoid an unpowered hub.
  • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled and DexoPad has Bluetooth permission in Settings → Privacy & Security → Bluetooth.
  • Close and reopen DexoPad, then unplug and reconnect the dongle.
  • Move the phone closer to the dongle and temporarily disconnect other phones that may already be connected to it.

Pairing fails

  • Restart the DexoPad app and reconnect the dongle.
  • In the app, remove or forget the saved dongle if that option is shown, then scan again.
  • Turn iPhone Bluetooth off and back on.
  • Confirm that another phone is not connected to the dongle.
  • Restart the iPhone and the computer if pairing still fails.

Typing is delayed or characters are dropped

  • Keep the phone and dongle close together and remove nearby sources of wireless interference.
  • Use a direct USB port instead of a hub or extension cable.
  • Pause large Bluetooth transfers or disconnect unused Bluetooth devices.
  • Send shorter text blocks if a very long paste is delayed.
  • Reconnect the app and dongle, then test again.

Which OS mode should I use?

  • WIN: Windows computers and Windows-style keyboard shortcuts.
  • MAC: macOS computers and Mac Command/Option key mappings.
  • LINUX: Linux computers and standard Linux desktop shortcuts.
  • ASCII: Basic text entry where compatibility matters more than OS-specific shortcuts, including some firmware or BIOS screens.

If letters work but shortcuts or modifier keys do not, switch to the mode that matches the connected computer.

How do I update the dongle firmware?

Use the firmware update option shown in the latest DexoPad app and follow its on-screen instructions. Keep the dongle connected to stable USB power and keep the app open until the update finishes. Do not unplug the dongle during an update. If no update option is available or an update fails, contact support with your app version, iOS version, and dongle details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which systems are supported?

DexoPad supports compatible Windows, macOS, and Linux computers. Because the dongle presents itself as a standard USB HID keyboard and mouse, basic input can also work in BIOS/UEFI and other environments that accept USB HID input.

Is DexoPad free? Does it include in-app purchases?

Download terms, available features, and any in-app purchase options are shown on DexoPad's current App Store product page. App Store information takes precedence because offers may change over time.

Does the computer need Bluetooth or a driver?

No computer-side Bluetooth pairing is required. The phone connects to the DexoPad dongle over BLE, while the dongle connects to the computer as a standard USB HID device. Most compatible systems do not require a separate driver.
